Vocab Word #2

Please post your second personal vocab word here by midnight, Thursday, January 31, 2008. To receive full credit, you must (1) give the word, a correct definition, and where you found the word (e.g., story or book title); (2) post a word that has not already been posted by someone else or included on a previous vocab list; (3) post a word that, in my judgment, you probably didn't already know, and that you might possibly use in writing or conversation some day.

King Arthur -- Modern Connections

Find an example of a real-world modern code of conduct. This might be from the realms of business, government, religion, service organizations, or clubs. Your contribution must be unique. Once you decide on the code you will share, identify it on the blog by Monday, January 28. Check the blog before you finalize your choice. If your code of conduct is available online, you may simply create a link to it on your blog comment. Otherwise, print a copy of the code and bring it to class.

"The Tale of Sir Lancelot"

For "The Tale of Sir Lancelot," which we read in class on January 16 and 17, please comment about either the power and peril of secrets in the story, or about Sir Lancelot's chivalric qualities. If you discuss secrets, state the secret and its consequences. If you discuss chivalry, give specific examples of Lancelot's chivalric actions or words.

The Power and Peril of Secrets

Please discuss one of the personal, public, or fictional secrets you wrote about in class. Briefly describe the nature and circumstances of the secret, and explain whether the keeper of the secret primarily wielded power or faced peril. Be sure that your comment is clear and free of errors.
